Plasma TV Brands

There are many plasma TV brands to sift through. Some brands are cheaper than others while some may offer better warranties or other incentives. Always be on guard for hidden charges and know for sure that what you're buying is what you really want and for the price you think.

Akai Plasma TV

The Akai plasma TV has some issues with color and false contouring as well as some poor design decisions. This third-tier television has a very unintuitive remote design and often produces an extreme amount of heat. You would be better off buying a similarly priced first-tier set.

Hitachi Plasma TV

The Hitachi plasma TV has an excellent picture and color contrast. With clean lines and simple installation processes the Hitachi plasma TV is well worth the cost. Hitachi also comes with a quality warranty. Currently Hitachi only offers a 42" and 55" plasma TV models.

JVC Plasma TV

The JVC plasma TV has an extra-bright, extra-sharp picture. The settings are readily customizable in case you don't want to watch something in full-out, in-your-face technicolor. This is probably one of the best plasma TVs out there with great picture and nice sound quality with very few shortcomings.

LG Plasma TV

The LG plasma TV has a good price for their 50" model. There are several models available with different resolutions. Unlike some competitors LG has a good two-year warranty. The picture quality is good, but not the best. Still, it is a good product for the price.

Maxent Plasma TV

Maxent plasma TVs usually have horrible picture quality. While easy to install, the finished product tends look cheap. For this high priced brand the picture and sound quality should be a lot better than it is.

Mitsubishi Plasma TV

The Mitsubishi plasma TV has great picture quality, once properly calibrated. These high-definition TVs make the picture seem almost 3D, but may require calibration for different movies and shows. The Mitsubishi plasma TV is stylish and performs very well, but is very expensive.

Panasonic Plasma TV

Panasonic plasma TVs have perhaps the best picture you can see today. The colors are extremely lifelike and the black levels are excellent. Panasonic plasma TVs need practically no calibration as the picture is excellent right out of the box.

Pioneer Plasma TV

Pioneer plasma TVs are some of the most popular plasmas available. The picture is fantastic with only a few adjustments. Both the picture quality and black levels are quite good. This high-quality brand produces great plasma TVs, but tend to be more expensive than their competitors.

Philips Plasma TV

The Philips plasma TV was one of the first plasmas on the market. The colors are excellent but the black scale is disappointing. The contrasts also have some trouble with pixelation and flickering. However, the sound quality is excellent and the black scale can be adjusted with an optional "E-box" tuner.

Samsung Plasma TV

The Samsung plasma TV is well designed, but comes up short on picture quality. In fast-action scenes the picture tends to blur and the sharpness is lacking. The plasma TVs come with an astounding number of inputs, though, and the menus are excellent. This middle-of-the-road television is a good deal even with the picture flaws.

Sharp Plasma TV

With only a few adjustments the Sharp plasma TV can give you a great picture with amazing sharpness. The black level is good and the menus are very intuitive. The price is great for a television that provides a good picture with minimal motion blur.

Vizio Plasma TV

Vizio plasma TVs are some of the cheapest on the market. Unfortunately, with Vizio you get what you pay for. Excessively dark and light scenes lack detail and there's a real problem with false contouring. The menus and other features are also disappointing.
